Accessibility

Found An Error?

This site is designed to be as accessible and as usable as possible so if you find something to be astray then please contact me.

Colour Blindness

Colour blindness affects about 1 in 20 people (5%) which makes it important for a website to check their colour schemes and images to ensure that everyone can see them with at least some clarity. This site has been checked using an online colourblind web page filter and showed no flaws for any disorder.

Text Size

The size of the text on this website can be easily increased or decreased without disrupting the design. If you are using Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari or Opera and have a mouse with a scroll wheel simply hold down the Ctrl key on your keyboard while scrolling up or down to increase/decrease the text size. Alternatively, select View then Text Size from your menu and select the size option you prefer from Smallest to Largest.

Where possible, images and other non-text objects will also be scalable.

Navigation Without A Mouse

This site has been equipped with some basic access keys and with a linear tab order thus making navigation via a keyboard/mobile phone so much easier.

Skip Links

Users using screen readers, mobile/cell phones or without a mouse may find Skip To links very useful. The Skip To links literally skip to whatever they correspond to. The Skip To links are the very first links and text on every page. Simply click them and you will avoid all the repetitive text/images that exist on every page, for fully-sighted computer users, and you’ll be taken you straight to the content you want.

Web Standards

I personally feel that W3C standards are very important and so I have tried to adhere to them as much as possible on this website. This includes:

  • XHTML 1.0 Strict
  • CSS 2.0
  • Section 508

Strenuous testing has been made in various browsers, versions and platforms. Somewhat obviously, the only browser that had any problem was Internet Explorer. If you have Internet Explorer, I really recommend that you upgrade to Firefox, Opera or another standards-compliant browser.

If your browser has trouble interpreting any pages, please contact me and let me know.

Printing

Although not strictly an accessibility issue I feel I must point out to people that this site utilises CSS printable stylesheets; meaning what you see on the screen isn’t what you see in Print Preview.
